Authority, sponsorship, intended audience.
Lippincott-Raven publishers is "one of the largest health science publishers in the world," including The American Journal of Nursing. Additional subsidiaries of parent company Wolters Kluwer are Aspen Publishers, and CCH (Commerce Clearing House). Intended audience are nurse leaders, managers, advanced degree practitioners, clinicians, and patient advocates.

Courses listed on this site have appeared in The American Journal of Nursing. By-line of article indicates contributing content expert. A bibliography is included.

Objectivity.
Site has clinical and academic orientation, as well as advocacy for nursing leadership. Advertising by nursing-related firms appears in frames at top of page, and is clearly distinguished from content. Some articles were prepared through grants, and sponsoring organization is clearly indicated with author biographical information.

Browser and other concerns.
Loads well and is easy to navigate, with exception of CE Calendar page, which has increased load time. Uses Cybercash secure system for payment and grading of tests. Ongoing accounts available.

Continuing Education.
Site contains almost fifty clinical articles, as well as management challenges, 1.5-5.0 contact hours, all courses available for view online, fee for CE post-test and certificate ($15-$30). Biographical information of course author and contributing content expert, bibliography, and table inserts for easy reference. Courses are read-only narrative, and have appeared in Lippincott journals, primarily The American Journal of Nursing; date of original publication is indicated. A Case Study Continuing Education offering, "Nursing Rounds," is available at this site also, where critical thinking and clinical experience influence the reader's choices, making Nursing Rounds a more interactive online offering. Only one Case Study is offered at this time.
