Dale Mueller, EdD, RN, an experienced health care administrator and educator, has been retained by Canyon College of Idaho to develop and maintain Health Services Administration degree programs for both undergraduate and graduate students.
Both undergraduate and graduate programs consist of 10 courses, each eight weeks in length. Certificate programs vary in length. Course descriptions can be viewed online at http://www.canyoncollege.edu
Dr. Mueller has incorporated a flexible, learner-directed approach throughout the program, such that there are opportunities within many of the courses for the student to select and investigate a chosen health care venue or issue of particular interest for them in their career growth. For the success of this student-centered approach, faculty are selected such that varied sectors of the health care field are represented through faculty experience, both within the US and internationally. In this way, Canyon College faculty working together across the curriculum can fulfill the expectations of the students pertaining to their individual learning goals.
Canyon College offers continuous enrollment, meaning that students may begin their course of study at any time. While all course work is delivered through the Canyon College website, faculty may choose from several modalities of asynchronous and synchronous instruction as best suits the instruction and content, including email, chat, video, voice, browser-based text, or fax and telephone.
Faculty are expected to create weekly assignments, a midterm exam and a final exam. Faculty reimbursement is based on student completion of the exams and subsequent submission of course grade.
Dr. Mueller is experienced in online distance learning, and is a published author regarding web-based instruction. She has mentored faculty in facilitation and authorship for optimal use of the medium and student learning experience, and is responsible for placing, developing, and evaluating all coursework and faculty instruction at Canyon College.
Technical assistance is available from Dr. Mueller and Canyon College for all matters related to electronic delivery, including assistance in formatting faculty materials from a basic MS Word or WordPerfect document. Faculty need proficiency with MS Word or WordPerfect to write and instruct in these programs. Dr. Mueller and Canyon College will provide all formatting and programming assistance where necessary.
Faculty are considered independent contractors for a designated course of instruction. Faculty are compensated in the amount of $175.00 US per student upon faculty submission of required evidence of student completion (midterm and final exam, and final grade). Estimated time per week per student will vary, as communication is usually asynchronous (such as email). Estimated time per class per week may be approximately one hour or more depending upon the enrollment, the assignment, and the requirements of course participation as directed by individual faculty members.
All faculty will compose and submit a Syllabus, containing at a minimum the following information:
a. faculty contact information (such as email or fax)
b. course description (obtained from Canyon College Website)
c. textbook, online materials, and/or supplemental readings
c. course objectives
d. weekly assignments
e. grading criteria
All faculty will submit the following evaluations of student learning:

Mueller
Please indicate which courses you are interested in writing and teaching, or if you would like to suggest new courses for electives, continuing education, or perhaps additional degree or certificate programs. After reviewing resumes for suitable background for the course topic, prospective faculty will be contacted by email, and some further conversations about course content, breadth, scope, alignment of learning objectives, and establishment of course authorship timelines will commence. Once agreement is reached, Dr. Mueller will forward a contract for course fulfillment and instruction.
All course materials may be submitted in MS Word or WordPerfect. Technical assistance is provided to convert all materials into web page formatting. While some faculty may prefer to create course materials directly in HTML, knowledge of HTML is not a requirement for faculty.
